This mindset serves as a catalyst\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: normal; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: black; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-font-kerning: 0pt;\"\u003efor my exploration into the morphology of commonplace articles such as chairs, side\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: normal; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: black; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-font-kerning: 0pt;\"\u003etables, and shelves, prompting examination of both their visual manifestation and their\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: normal; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: black; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-font-kerning: 0pt;\"\u003eergonomic engagement. I want the pieces I create to serve a function\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: normal; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: black; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-font-kerning: 0pt;\"\u003ebut to also exist on their own as works of art—as Functional Sculptures. Throughout this\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: normal; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: black; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-font-kerning: 0pt;\"\u003eresidency, I have been able to expand on this design language and am grateful to be\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: normal; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: black; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-font-kerning: 0pt;\"\u003esupported in a period of experimentation. For the first time, I am able to prioritize the\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: normal; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: black; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-font-kerning: 0pt;\"\u003esculptural aspect of my practice rather than the functionality of the works. This is new\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: normal; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif; color: black; mso-themecolor: text1; mso-font-kerning: 0pt;\"\u003eterritory for me. My work is distinctly nurtured by my immediate surroundings and personal experiences. While I look to designers for inspiration, I find that many of my heroes exist in other mediums such as cinema, music, comedy, and poetry. A Brooklyn-based designer and sculptor, I was named as one of Wallpaper magazine’s 300 people to know.
