Artist Statement
Intervening in the work of another artist is a great challenge: seeing what the piece proposes to me, how I intervene while respecting its essence and its legacy and imagine a story that complements it.
The piece chosen from Phil Brown’s blanks collection suggests in its conical and organic shape the idea of something containing. And yet, at the same time, it conveys feelings of support and tenderness.
Also, the tree, forgotten and in its rawness. A bird attaches branches to build its shelter, a nest to inhabit, redefine, and thus avoid oblivion.
