Joe DeRita

From the maker:

"My dad Marc started DeRita Woodworking as a furniture refinishing business in 1984 in my Grandmom El's garage. In fact, he used to shop for tools and machine parts on North 3rd street, where the Museum for Art in Wood stands today. The company has since grown into a well established custom cabinetry business, currently based in Malvern, PA.

I've worked for the company throughout my teens and 20s, and started making frames as gifts in high school, always with specific people in mind. The wood is reclaimed from DeRita Woodworking, made from their cutoffs of quality hardwoods, with walnut and sycamore being my favorites to work with.

Though the frames have evolved in design, I've kept the original concept the same since I was a teenager. Each frame is built to hold multiple photos, which can slide in and out at the user's convenience. Practical beauty is something I've always gravitated towards, in life and in my work."
