Artist Statement
It was a fateful encounter. I went to Phil's house and got a bowl. Before he passed away, he left us a lot of blank bowls with the words that he wanted artists in wood to make something with them. Phil would go into the forest himself to get local wood, then let it dry for decades, and then turn it on a lathe to make his art piece with his original shape. I was allowed to choose one of those blank bowls.
