His objective is to emphasize the natural beauty and the imperfections of whole pieces of wood. Mother Nature produces an infinite variety of interesting shapes, colors and contortions, and Philip’s goal is to work with the natural flow to create pleasing pieces of turned wood. He is committed to creating traditionally shaped pieces for everyday use as well as for decoration.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eHe likes to turn local woods including cherry, maple, black walnut, black locust, hickory, as well as some other less known species. In addition, some of his pieces use more exotic imports such as coolibah, red gum, eucalyptus and ebony to name a few.
