Rachel Fuld

"When I was a student I envisioned myself as an academic. Instead, with encouragement from my sculpture professors, I interned for a furniture maker and have never left the field. I try, in my work to capture the elegance of simple forms. Each piece is carefully shaped and built then painted with milk paint, to create a hard finish which is exceptionally smooth and soft to touch. The end result is a piece which alludes to the organic world. I aim to create work which can surpass its function and invoke an emotional or physical response." — Rachel Fuld
