About the Artist, Shamaka Thompson:
Shamaka Thompson is a self-taught jewelry artist working in the Washington, DC region. She has created jewelry since age 11 and has since developed a unique niche with her wooden wearables. She has done a number of fashion shows highlighting her work and, in 2017, participated in her first 3-person show, which was a great success, selling all but one piece opening night. Thompson considers herself motivated by a higher power to encourage the outer reflection of inner beauty with her unique, bold jewelry.
